I am glad to have found Katie Costello through the great TV series Switched At Birth. Music purists will have found her on some underground channel of some sort, and I’ll give them the nod of my head, but I’m not ashamed to say that this wonderful show brought me to her music. If any ABC TV show was made to bring awareness to the deaf culture and to embracing uniqueness, this is it.
Television aside, Katie Costello has a unique tone that feels soft and reminds me of sitting in bed, leaning against the wall, watching the light (or lack of) hit the wall in all the oddest angles. It reminds me of being in my room, walls covered in posters or in picture collages, thinking of how peaceful the moment is. I see vintage furniture, a big plush pillow and a medley of smaller cushions. I see a large window to my left. My anywhere place.
